CMA US Pass Rate: The Last Official IMA Figure
IMA’s last published global CMA pass rate is 45% for both Part 1 and Part 2, from the January–February 2020 window. IMA has not published a global pass rate since, so any newer figure you see is an estimate, not IMA data.

| Window | Part 1 | Part 2 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| January–February 2020 | 45% | 45% | IMA press release, May 2020 (as reported by UWorld) |
Global pass rate for both Part 1 and Part 2 in the first window of the revised curriculum. Part 1 had averaged about 35% in earlier years. Figures quoted elsewhere for later years are third-party estimates, not IMA data.
Why is there no newer CMA pass rate?
IMA stopped releasing global pass rates after its May 2020 announcement. Review providers still quote yearly figures, but none of them comes from IMA.
When you see a CMA pass rate for 2023, 2024 or later, ask where it came from. If the source isn’t IMA, treat it as a guess.
What does the pass rate mean for your planning?
Expect to pass only with planned preparation: in the last official window, fewer than half of candidates passed each part.
- Most candidates sit one part at a time; plan each part as its own block of study.
- The two case-based questions carry 25% of each part’s marks, so practise written answers, not only multiple-choice questions.
- Book your exam window early so your study plan has a fixed end date.
